CSK vs KXIP predictions and betting : Recent form and head-to-head
CSK has been one of the most competitive teams in IPL history after making it to the playoffs of every season they were part of until the recent one. They started the 2020 season with a convincing win over their arch rivals MI but lost their way completely losing 5 out of the next 6 matches.
To rub salt into their wounds, they lost three games in the initial part of the second half that put them at the bottom half of the table with no chance to qualify. But they have picked themselves up and have managed back to back victories since then. They would be looking to sign off with a victory on Sunday.
KXIP was unlucky in the first half of the season with a couple of matches not going their way despite in the driver. They were down and out with just one win in seven games. But they dusted themselves up and came back hard at their opponents winning 5 games on a trot that gave them a glimmer of hope to make it to the next stage.
But their free-flowing momentum was interrupted on Friday when they faced a 7-wicket loss in Abu Dhabi. This means that the side is desperate to score a win on Sunday and hope that the other results go their way.

CSK vs KXIP predictions and betting : Team comparisons
Top order: KXIP > CSK
There’s little doubt that the KXIP top order has carried the batting all the way until now. They have KL Rahul leading from the front who has more than 600 runs in 13 innings at a healthy strike rate. He has either Mayank Agarwal or Mandeep Singh for company who are excellent performers. Coming in at 3 would be Chris Gayle who has 276 runs in 6 innings at a strike rate of 144.50 and has been a main factor in Punjab’s turnover.
On the other hand, CSK’s top order failures was one of the main factors for their failure this season. The pair of Shane Watson and Faf du Plesis weren’t able to provide explosive starts that led to slow starts. This meant that MSD experimented with Ruturaj Gaikwad at the top and it worked beautifully as he scored two back to back match winning knocks for the side. Ambati Rayudu has been a little up and down this season but has scored 329 runs in 10 innings at 130.55.
Middle Order and All-rounders: CSK > KXIP
The weak link in the KXIP line up has always been the middle order. Despite having some top-class players, they have failed to deliver in crucial situations.
Nicholas Pooran has been the only one who stands out with 351 runs at a strike rate of 173.76. Apart from him, Glenn Maxwell has been dismal with 108 runs in 11 innings whereas Deepak Hooda has 39 runs in 6 innings with a strike rate less than 100. To add to this, the likes of Maxwell and Neesham haven’t pitched in with the ball.
Looking at CSK’s middle order, barring the captain himself, other individuals have done an impressive job for the side. Sam Curran has been an excellent find for them who acts as a floater and strikes at 131.91 along with 13 wickets in 13 games. Ravindra Jadeja has also contributed big time with 232 runs in 11 innings at a magnificent strike rate of 171.85 so far. N Jagadeesan also has the potential to give some quick runs in the middle overs but hasn’t got much opportunities.
Bowling department: KXIP > CSK
There were too many concerns for the KXIP bowling department after the first half. They worked hard and bounced back in that super over against MI along with a collective bowling effort to defend 126 against SRH. Mohammad Shami has led the pack with 20 wickets at an economy of 8.67 with the spin duo of Ravi Bishnoi and M Ashwin extremely effective in the middle overs with 19 wickets between the pair.
Chris Jordan has been effective for the side in the death whereas the youngster Arshdeep Singh has gone about his business with 9 scalps in 8 games. For CSK, their bowling has been all over the place except few individual brilliances.
Deepak Chahar has been extremely dangerous in the powerplay and has developed the slower ball at the death that has ensured 12 wickets in 13 games at 7.46 economy. The wrist spinners like Karn Sharma and Piyush Chawla have taken wickets occasionally but they have been on the expensive side. Mitchell Santner has done a great job in two games whereas Lungi Ngidi looked like a future prospect for the side with 6 wickets in 3 games but needs a little tweak in his tactics.
