The BBL is back for its 10th edition with 60 games scheduled in a space of 2 months with the final scheduled to be held in the first week of February. On 3rd game day which is on 12th December, Melbourne Stars are set to play their second game against Sydney Thunder just 24 hours shy of their first game against Sixers.

Stars are having the momentum and are tipped to the hot favorites whereas Sydney Thunder are looking for some redemption. Overall, the cricket fraternity would be hoping a healthy contest between two quality sides.

Melbourne Stars vs Sydney Thunder Predictions and Betting: Recent form

Melbourne Stars did a great job in 2019 season despite failing to win the title. They were in imperious touch with their players turning it on in every game to keep them in the top spot. At the end of the league stage, they had won 10 games as opposed to just 4 losses that helped them secure the qualifiers spot.

Marcus Stoinis emerged as their best batsman while Adam Zampa pitched in with the ball. Despite losing to Sixers in the Qualifier, they put up a strong performance against Thunder to get the better off them to make it to the BBL finals. With the rain interrupting play, they failed to chase a above par score set by Sixers to settle for the runner-up spot for the 3rd time.

Sydney Thunder have always been that kind of a side who are either completely dominating or have been completely clueless in 9 seasons. They started off their 2019 journey with a win against Brisbane Heat and then went on to win 5 more games providing them with 13 points at the end of the league stage.

This meant that they were just able to scrape through to the next stage. They overcame Hobart Hurricanes in the eliminator and defeated Adelaide Strikers to make it to the challenger where they bowed out to Melbourne Stars.

They looked down and out for most part of the tournament, but still managed to finish 3rd overall. This also means that they have a lot of positives to take from last year’s campaign.
