Modi Cabinet Expansion Prediction: The expansion of Narendra Modi Cabinet has been due since long time. The expansion was expected after the Bihar election and Madhya Pradesh by election, however, there has been no news of expansion of his cabinet.
When Narendra Modi took oath as Prime Minister for 2nd time in May last year his cabinet had 57 ministers -- 24 of Cabinet rank, 9 of independent minister of state rank and 24 ministers of state.
It was expected that the ministry would be expanded within a year but it did not happen. Currently several ministries are lying vacant. The exit of Shiv Sena and Akali Dal from NDA led to two vacant ministries. Added to it the death of Ram Vilas Paswan added one more vacant ministry.
Many leaders in Modi cabinet are in charge of additional ministries. If rumors' are to be believed than Modi cabinet may be expanded by the end of this month or in early January 2021 that is before the beginning of budget session in February.
Modi Cabinet Expansion: What can be expected in New Expansion?
In most of the cases it has been noticed that the expansion of Modi cabinet has been made keeping in mind the upcoming election as well as induction of young talent. This time it is expected that some leaders from West Bengal where election in due in 2021 could be included.
Apart from this, portfolios to NDA ally JDU may be allocated keeping in mind the alliance in Bihar. Additionally, a ministry may be given to Anupriya Patel’s Apna Dal.
Moreover, PM Modi may reward few of the BJP loyalist as well as the leaders who have been exceptional in fulfilling the party’s electoral motives.
Modi Cabinet Expansion Prediction: Who can be included in Modi’s Cabinet?
The very first leader who may be included in Modi's Cabinet in next expansion could be Jyotiraditya Scindia, who helped topple the Kamal Nath-led Congress government in Madhya Pradesh in March and also played a key role in the BJP’s recent by-election victories in 19 of 28 seats in the state.
Himanta Biswa Sarma, who switched from the Congress in 2015 and has been the chief architect of the BJP’s expansion across the Northeast could make an entry in Modi’s cabinet. He has been face of BJP not just in Assam but entire north-east region.
BJP may also reward some longstanding performers, such as Bhupender Yadav, who have consistently delivered on organizational and electoral responsibilities. His hard work in Telangana helped party make massive inroads in Hyderabad by winning 48 seats in GHMC election.
Rumours also suggest that Mukul Roy from West Bengal may also be included in Modi cabinet in next expansion.
Leaders like Shahnawaz Hussain, R Madhab and new elected Rajya Sabha leader Sushil Modi may also be included in Modi cabinet.
New faces may be inducted from West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Assam and Uttar Pradesh.

There is no finalised date when the new ministers will be added to Modi cabinet. Narendra Modi has been known for surprises, but the expansion is expected at the earliest keeping in mind the upcoming budget session as well as West Bengal election
