Politics which in modern world is better and simpler word for Schadenfreude.
Those experts in media who are equating MP to recent events in Maharashtra or some other recent political event either have limited memories or limited understanding of the issues. MP remained a fortress for BJP for a long time. Fortress meaning bulk vote share. That's for both LS and assembly. Shows how BJP positioned themselves and addressed key issues.
Sundarlal Patwa was CM twice first as Jan Sangh in 1980 then again in 1990 as BJP. Both times his Gov was dissolved by Presidents rule. In 1997 he was elected first time for LS defeating Kamal Nath on his home turf.
There are some names for Cong too.
As someone told me 10 years back, there is always someone from MP on CWC. Who was interim Cong chief when there was lot of uncertainty as to which Gandhi will finally take over?
Some of these CMs are or were heavy weights and some of have families link down to some well known persons. Like MP had been fortress for now roots back to Jan Sangh Days. However MP under Cong also had been their strong hold. Situation unravelled when it became a revolving door, Shukla, Vora, Singh each changing hands at whims of Highest Command.
Only two men have consistently and continually held the state
Last MP assembly election was a tough fight. Owing to slightly higher turnout. Double anti incumbency on BJP.Dash of complacency.
Latest series of events trigger lot of uncertainty till the next floor test is declared and won. How will the scenario change or will it blast on BJP's face is what remains to be seen?
Mandatory elections of RS from MP is also an aspect. There was a talk of PGV winning a nomination. JMS breaking away surely upsets the cart. If BJP gets it right, it would be a reversal in fortunes after having lost Raj, MO, Maha, CG, JHKD and stop the domino effect of some sorts.
Obviously what happens next remains to be seen.
