Senior lawyer Rajiv Dhawan who has been appearing for the Sunni Waqf Board and other Muslim sides in Ayodhya land dispute Case has been sacked from the case by the advocate-on-record Ejaz Maqbool. Ejaz Maqbool has been representing Jamiat.
In his Facebook page, Rajiv Dhawan wrote, “Just been sacked from the Babri case by AOR Ejaz Maqbool who was representing the Jamiat. Have sent a formal letter accepting the 'sacking' without demur. No longer involved in the review or the case.” He added, “I have been informed that Mr Madani has indicated that I was removed from the case because I was unwell. This is total nonsense. He has a right to instruct his lawyer AOR Ejaz Maqbool to sack me which he did on instructions. But the reason being floated is malicious and untrue.”
Recently Rajiv Dhawan has been in news regarding his comment where he said that Muslims have never disturbed the environment, it is the Hindus who have always done so. Later on he clarified that by Hindu he meant Sangh Pariwar which is dedicated to violence, lynching, destroying mosques and killing people, and not Hindus in general.
Meanwhile on Monday, Jamiet-Ulema-e-Hind filed a review petition in Supreme Court challenging its November 9 verdict. The apex court had awarded the disputed land in Ayodhya to Hindu side, clearing the construction of Ram Mandir. The petition sought to stay on the apex court judgement and stay on Allahabad High Court’s judgement of 2010 regarding the case. It must be noted that the Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Board of Waqfs, the original plaintiff, has not sought to file a review petition. In the petition the Jamiat stated that the petition was filed in a representative capacity of entire Muslim community.
