Best Chief Ministers of India: In the previous round of our best chief minister of India opinion poll we found Naveen Patnaik to be ahead followed by Arvind Kejriwal. KCR was 3rd, Yogi Adityanath was 4th and Mamata Banerjee was 5th. Who are the top 5 now?
Arvind Kejriwal's performance is nothing short of miracle. Delhi had been rapidly deteriorating in June until Amit Shah intervened. On the other hand, perhaps many see such a rapid increase in Testing capacity as a example that BJP was troubling Arvind Kejriwal in the first place. On the other hand, Delhi along with the Southern States and Haryana have opened up quite aggressively giving relief to citizens to earn their living and get back to normal life. The real reasons are not easy to decipher. Yogi Adityanath has been steady while Naveen has fallen quite a bit from the top given Odisha's deteriorating number of cases. BSY and Jagan have improved a lot but it is kind of ironic given the quickly deteriorating situation in the two States. Their ranks are unlikely to hold for long now
Both KCR and Mamata who were in the Top 5 have slipped and are in the bottom 10. Ashok Gehlot thanks to the recent crisis is at the absolute bottom along with Tamil Nadu's E Palaniswamy, Vijay Rupani of Gujarat, Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Uddhav Thackeray . On the other hand, Nitish Kumar has shown significant improvement.
One major learning from the survey so far is that participants are not looking just at COVID handling but also at how the economy is being handled. There is increasing frustration with lockdown at various levels and any Government that allows business to start and workers to return to offices is also seen positively.
Note: This is a wisdom of the crowd opinion poll. Not a large sample opinion poll. Results are unlikely to be substantially different if corrected for Population.
